| 2010.. the year so far -a message from Simon Winfield,
MD, Novus Sealing Ltd. |
|
|
| 2009 proved to be a difficult year for Novus Sealing
with uncertain issues surrounding the global economy that affected
every single one of us. A good think and then another good think enabled
us to positively launch 2010 with the aptly named internal marketing
campaign of ‘think twice’. We re-focused the business and
went back to the core principle that had made Novus so successful.
It worked and suddenly Novus employees had a spring in their step again.
A few strategic additions to the established team and a shared responsibility
within the management team allowed us to really concentrate on driving
our business forward. |
I am pleased to
announce that after 6 months trading we now sit in the best position
the business has ever been at this stage of the year.
|
| Many things have contributed to this success but
if I was to pick one overriding reason it would be our people.During
the latter stages of 2009 we had a new Atom Cutting machine delivered
and we focused strategically on 3 key customers. By the end of 2010,
I believe that we will have achieved a 100% success rate with these
customers. A major achievement for Novus Sealing considering that this
was uncharted territory for the business. In addition, our top 40 UK
accounts are well above budget – considering this includes accounts
taken over by our competitors, that is very encouraging. |
| Heatshields have certainly delivered in 2010. Following
the 2009 slump in the automotive market we were cautious with our budgets,
but I’m pleased to advise that not only have Heatshields reached
their target but they have just secured investment in a new trial part
for a major customer which may secure further business. |
| Novus New Build started the year with an impressive
order book and they continue to develop their reach and market standing. |
| Like the UK, the first 6 months Export figures have
been impressive. We continue to manufacture for the US market and previous
development work with our key customers in Germany and Nigeria have
proved a success. In Scandanavia we have re-secured a key refining
contract and continue to see growth in this region. |
| We have continued to see growth in our Novus Sealing
facilities worldwide. Technical work in conjunction with Novus China
for the ship yard industry has seen many orders for Novus 45, that’s
great news for our business because it is formulated utilising ‘off-cuts
materials’ Novus Australia have invested in more machinery to
develop their business and continue to grow. |
| Novus Middle East deserves a special mention because
they have encountered many problems during the formation of Novus MENA.
We have more machinery planned for them this year and they started
to contribute with profitable figures. |
| Finally I’m very excited by our latest venture
in Kazakhstan. We have found an honest and hard working partner in
the region who shares similar desires to ourselves. I know that within
the next 12 months we will start to see this develop in to something
impressive. |
